Reduced fuel consumption in all operating modes ( ≤11,200 kg per hour fuel consumption at maximum after-burning thrust) helps reduce operating costs and increase range. The fan structure design ensures the safe operation of the engine inhaling foreign matter. Equipped with "full power digital engine control system" (FADEC) and a backup hydraulic mechanical control system. The end point is that the 117S is the same size and weight as the AL-31F engine, ensuring full interchangeability with the engines in use today and can be considered an alternative upgrade to the AL-31F/N series and 117S.
